The Work and Life of Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso started working at art when he was very young. He madehi debut as an artist in 1893, at the age of only 12 with his fatherGuidance. Picasso even drew before he could even walk. He had got into the advanced classes at the royal academy of art when he was only14 years of age, and his painting career was so long that he wasactually still painting pictures at the ripe old age of 91.
Pablo Picasso was born on the 25th October 1881 and died on the 8thApril 1973. Even though he was so old when he died, it is written thathe kept on painting until the day that he actually died.
Picasso had many different eras of paintings. Some were in many shadesof blue, but then there were ones in colours like pinks and greys.
When Picasso painted with the style cubism, he painted the world notfrom one angle, but from many different angles. Picasso’s artworkconsisted of him breaking normal objects in to many different sizedpieces. Some weren’t even cubes but the name cubism stuck withPicasso’s style of work. Picasso started the era of cubism in 1907,with painting that he had called “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon”.
Pablo Picasso created more than 22,000 works of art during hislifetime. One of the paintings that he did, Las Meninas, he painted 36times in different styles. To make each of the versions different, heused colours, shapes and space to make each one different from therest of them. But in the first place he based all of the 36 pictureson the original by Diego Velasquez.
Picasso’s mother was called Maria Picasso Lopez and his father wascalled Jose Ruiz Blasco. Instead of taking his fathers name like youwould normally for a surname, Picasso decided to take his mothers,because he found it sounded a lot more interesting than Ruiz.
