Patricia Allen Introduction to Speech Communication Professor Chamberlain 25th September 2012 Deanne Williams Dali Museum Tour As I arrived at my destination September 25th, The Dali Museum located at One Dali Boulevard, in the beautiful waterfront city of SST. Petersburg, Florida I was not amazed to see the eclectic art located both within and outside of the building, but at the wide array of different people working at the building.I was greeted by a meek gray haired Oman with a smile as bright as the afternoon sun, who guided me to the ticket booth where I encountered a dark complicated man who had the face of a man in his ass’s but the physique of a man at least twice his Junior age. Little did I know that there were many surprises in store as far as the type of people that would encounter throughout the tour.Upon receiving my ticket I processed upstairs to the third floor for the 12:30 pm guided museum tour, which located within the Tom and Mary James Family wing of the museum to begin a Journey that would take me on a mystical magical fantasy ride onto the mind and soul of artist Salvador Dali. As I approached the very top of the stairs a saw a few patrons milling around the tour area and to my immediate right sitting left of the entry door sat a woman and her companion, her seeing eye dog, who were also waiting for the tour begin as well.
Since I was a little early I took the time to walk around the third floor and look at the sculptures and paintings, take allowable photos and take in the panoramic and stunning view of the SST. Petersburg waterfront, Pier, Airport, and The Mayfly Theatre and nearby Progress Energy Baseball Park. As 12:30 arrived I headed to the Tom and Mary James Family wing along with at least 15 to 20 other patrons for the tour to begin. As we all gathered into a small area facing the first painting on the wall we all briefly wondered and some out loud where was the tour guide and as if on cue a small voice said ” HI, My name is Pat Allen and I will be your tour guide for the day. ” Myself and the crowd looked in shock as the woman standing in the front of the room with a Seeing Eye dog proclaimed to be our guide. One lady immediately rear and left of me exclaimed silently “how is this going o work.
I have to admit that I wondered the same as well, but I was also willing to keep an open mind. Ms. Allen begins the tour by giving us a brief history about Salvador Dali pertaining to his childhood, his on again and off again relationship with his father, his painting style. Ms. Allen moves from painting to painting without any hesitation and with grace and ease and within a few minutes the audience seems to have forgotten about her Seeing Eye dog companion.
The tour progresses into the middle of the room where minting of a beautiful nude woman is view.Ms. Allen informs us that the model in the painting is actually Dalais wife and that she would later serve as the model and inspiration to many of his works. From painting and painting, movement after story of Dali and his paintings rather than the ability for Patricia to lead the tour. At the One o’clock the tour has begun to whine down and the audience is in complete awe of the spectacular works of art created by Salvador Dali and professionally displayed on the walls. After thirty minutes Ms.
