Research and Evidence Based Practice ProjectsNameInstitutionInstructorCourseDate Research and Evidence Based Practice ProjectsResearch-based practice involves developing new knowledge about health care practices or modification of existing knowledge (Melnyk, 2015). Research-based practice is implemented to ensure continuous improvements in the healthcare sector by encouraging nursing innovation skills (Melnyk, 2015).
The nursing profession is continuously evolving and diversifying and research-based practice will contribute in the innovation of the best nursing practices to help the organization in achieving its set goals (Melnyk, 2015). An example of research-based practice is a research on the most suitable plan in integrating a new health care practitioner to an organization, as this may be different for different organizations (Polit & Beck, 2017). Evidence based practice involves application of the best evidence available practices (Melnyk, 2015). Evidence based knowledge is incorporated in the decision making process by healthcare professionals. Evidence based practices allows health care professional to use researched and approved practices supported with evidence (Melnyk, 2015).
These practices have been proved to achieve certain desired health care goals. EBP involves a complex process in determining the best practices and involves participation of professional health care givers as well considerations regarding the patients, which may include their preferences or racial backgrounds among other important values of the patient (Melnyk, 2015). An example of EBP is controlling infection in a health care facility as many patients with different infectious illnesses share the same environment and EBP can be implemented to prevent the spread of the infection (Polit & Beck, 2017).Most health care policies require that health care practitioners integrate EBP into their systems in the organization (Polit & Beck, 2017).
Healthcare practitioners must use EBP in their nursing profession to improve the quality and effectiveness of healthcare. Evidence based practices improve the safety of patients and their total quality of life (Polit & Beck, 2017). With the use of standardized evidence based practices, patient outcomes can be predicted and improved in all healthcare facilities (Polit & Beck, 2017).ReferencesMelnyk, B. M. (2015).
