Public relations plans consist of knowing who your intended audience is and how to contact your intended audience, and addressing the issue. A successful plan can be achieved by organizing community and charity events, or sending out press releases to newspapers, radio stations and televisions.

Upon realizing the circumstances, Target sent out a press release to news stations and emails to its customers to let them know what happened and what precautions they should take to prevent any further damage. The retail store also publicly laid out its plans to ensure that this would never happen again. Finally, Target offered discounts to their customers, giving them perks like free shipping and handling and free credit monitoring. These efforts were more than likely orchestrated and organized by public relations experts.
A public relations plan is critical for the success of a business, company or organization. Good public relations plans include well-thought and planned strategies, often coached by experts to show employees how to communicate and deliver the message to the public. The need for a public relations plan often results from technical complications, legal issues or an incident that requires the organization to repair its reputation. A public relations plan can be delivered in the form of a commercial on the radio, television or newspaper.
