Growing up when I was younger was fun and challenging. Being a military brat I was always bouncing from place to place. My childhood life really took a change when my dad retired after serving 20 years in the Navy. At the age of 13 just stepping into my teen years my dad retired and we moved back to Memphis, TN where I was originally born. [Your father retired when he was 13? Please re-word to avoid confusion] During this time in life [omit] it was very difficult because I had to transition from school systems, different kind of peers, and a different environment that I was surrounded by. During This time I went thru [through] many challenges that have much to do with the person I am today. Work on your thesis—it should focus on your early experiences with literacy and everything should support it.I remember before my dad retired from grades five to eight [this sounds as though your father retired from grades five to eight—re-word] being stationed in Aviano, Itay I went to a Department of Defense school. Going to a Department of Defense school was [a] nice experience with the school facility being well built and the inside of the school building was also [omit] built with marble floors, and marble walls[;] it was like something out of a Picasso painting. The teaching at the school was different as well because the teachers taught at a faster pace and there in a way [omit] I kind of [omit] felt like I learned a little more. Now transitioning to a public school from a Department of Defense school was like doing a complete 360 and then stopping and being dizzy not knowing what is going on around you. Re-word The teaching was slower mainly because teachers would constantly get interrupted by classroom behavior. Due to this behavior from the students teachers always had to stop what they were teaching to attend to whatever behavior was going on in the classroom. The school facility was nothing like when I went to the Department of Defense School. The facility was very poor and it was very old and dirty. The windows we had that when in the school were plastic the school looked kind of like a prison. Re-word Though going to this public school had its cons it also had it’s pros as well. The teachers seemed like they actually cared more about the students they taught.
