. 12 Appendices 1 2 3 CHAPTER 1 : Introduction Background ND Chon Kane University International College (KICK) is located Chon Kane University (SKU) which was one of the four regional universities established i 1964.KAKI has developed itself to be one of the top leading universities in Thailand. Ski’s strategic goal is to be an international and leading regional university in research. SKU has a student population of nearly 40,000 students including 29,000 undergraduates and almost 1 1 ,OHO graduate students. As for KICK, there’s approximately 250 students. It has been established in 2008 accordance with the university strategic plan, aims at the leading undergraduate international education center for the SEAN region. (KICK, 201 1).

Currently, there are 4 degree programs available in academic year at KICK which are IA -? Bachelor of Arts (B A) in International Affairs, TM -? Bachelor of Arts (B. A) in Tourism Management, KGB -? Bachelor of Business Administration (B. B. A) in Global Business and IM -? Bachelor of Business Administration (B. B. A) in International Marketing.

There’s one more major that is not available in KICK which is Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) in Multimedia Technology and Animation These days, higher education is becoming a major driver of economic competitiveness in an increasingly knowledge-driven global economy.As higher education systems grow and diversify, society is increasingly concerned about the quality of programs. There’s something fail to address the quality of teaching it is in part because measuring teaching quality is challenging.

(Hnard, 201 0) Problem Statements As this study aims to support KICK in order to let the student and lecturer work together smoothly without defects as Second, is to encourage institutions to be more responsive to the needs of society and the economy. So, the institutions will have an opportunity to reconsider the content and consistency of their programs and determine whether the input: (teaching staff and materials) fit the needs of the educational purpose. According to the pressures that many universities are challenging, it forces hem to take a closer look at the concept of quality teaching and to consider institutional support to step up the quality of the faculty and curriculum.

Witt these things, it comes to the third purpose of the study which is to help the institution consider a journey of constant improvement and regular evaluation for feedback because it is likely to have an impact on the teaching performance of teachers and on the learning conditions of students. The last simple purpose is to reflect on and explain the directions to researchers, teachers, administrative staff and students. Research Hypotheses As many researches about student’s satisfactions and its related topics, this study had shown that Skull’s quality depends on both students and lecturer who play the big role in the educational system.The hypotheses are as the following: 1 . The quality of teaching will positively be related to students satisfaction. 2.

The quality of teaching will effect to student perception for overall college. 3. Student’s learning experience will positively related to the quality of teaching. Research Questions The following are the research questions that would ask thorough out this study and determine to get answer for each Of the following question: . How satisfied are KICK students with the quality of teaching? 2.How does the quality of teaching affect the KICK student’s satisfaction? 3.

What level is the quality of KICK instruction? 5 Definition of Terms UNIVERSITY : a college or collection of colleges at which people study for a degree COLLEGE : any place for specialized education after the age of 16 where people study or train to get knowledge and/or skills STUDENT : a person who is learning at a college or university, or sometimes at a school SATISFACTION : a pleasant feeling which you get when you receive something you wanted, or when you have done something you wanted to doQUALITY : how good or bad something is LEARN : to get knowledge or skill in a new subject or activity EXPERIENCE knowledge or skill from doing, seeing or feeling things Limitation of the Studies The study area will be conducted in Chon Kane University International College, Thailand. Following are the limitation of the studies we foresee. 1. There’s a few number of KICK students and not all students may participate in filling up the questionnaires. 2.Accessibility, students may not be willing to give full cooperation in giving the right answer or information to our questions because the questions might be too risk for them. . We may not get enough time to interview all students within our specific period of time since all students will be busy with their study and project.

4. With the limitation of budget for making survey, we might have to find other way to distribute the questionnaires. For example, the online survey or Touch Pad.These kinds of thing can help the researcher save the paper a lot.

6 CHAPTER 2 : Literature Review There’s a research about the relationship between TTS (Total Quality Management) and educational system which published on the TTS magazine. TTS means to continue to improve the quality of the prod suction r service and or the educational system as for this case. Regarding the demand for increased quality, TTS is very important to reassure that institutions perform well and that the customers of higher education are being well served.Higher education institutions are increasingly recognizing that higher education is a service industry, and are placing greater emphasis on meeting the expectations and needs of their participating customers, for example, students. The main purpose is to develop a TTS model of academic excellence and empirically establish a relationship between TTS implementation and students’ satisfaction of academic performance. (Sedatives, P. B. , Regenerated, Raja R.

, 2005) Researchers always interested in consumer satisfaction and service quality in many varieties of disciplines.This is not surprising. Since a number of studies have shown start increase to strong relationship between these constructs and consumer loyalty. (Thiamin, 1 997) Although, many publication on consumer satisfaction and perceived quality, some work has been finished to explain the basic idea of these two construct However, an effort will not only inform average reader of the differences between these two construct but ill also clarify the causal ordering of these TV&’0 variables.Figure 1: A model of consumer satisfaction and perceived service quality Source: (Thiamin, 1997) In Figure 1, as applied to the “class” example, if the student perceives a negative discrimination of expectations, then he/she might blame the lecturer or fellow students for that student not acquiring the necessary skills (for example, the lecturer has poor knowledge of measurement theory or fellow students have a poor quantitative background with which to comprehend the mathematical aspects).On the other hand, if the student receives a positive discrimination, then he/she might attribute his or her newly acquired marketing research skills to their own effort. According to Figure 2, the highest commitment of the institution to enhance the quality of teaching is student evaluation (i.

Evaluation, achieved by the students, of the programs or of their learning experience Or Of the learning environment) which takes 76 percents of categories.This can indicate that student can actually have the opinion on the things they perceive and valuate it as it is. So, the more institution can achieve on trustfulness student evaluation, the more it can improve and enhance the quality of teaching. 8 Figure 3: The participating institutions ranked the different audiences targeted by their quality teaching initiatives As it shows in Figure 3, there are 8 top targeted audiences on different institution’s quality teaching initiatives which are new teachers, current teachers, Bachelor students, Master students, Doctoral students, administrative staff, the leaders of the institution, and employees.However, there’s 3 main groups of targeted audiences that is positively related to this epic, the first one is current teachers, the second one is Bachelor students and the last one is the leaders of the institution respectively.

Since 1950, the debates have been held for the validity of student evaluation on faculty, most researchers agree on supporting SAFE (Gastroenteritis’s Of Faculty) in the area of faculty development and instructional improvement.The researches had been held in Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, this evaluation is to search the need of academic department and unique character of instructional programs of the instructors. Studies should consider whether and how social capital, acquired through relationships with American dents, is related to access to institutional resources and opportunities.

Ultimately, the relationship between social capital and outcomes such as academic satisfaction, academic success, and even self-defined career success need to be tested. (Andrea G. Trice, 2004).

0 CHAPTER 3 : Methodology Procedure and Study Area The study will be conducted in Khan Keen University International College, Thailand, by distributing survey questionnaires (Appendices 1) to the students in the college. When all the students have class, we will ask lecturer for permission for allowing us to give the questionnaires to students so we can et most of student’s participation easily. As for some of the students that may not attend to the class we go to, we will contact them by sending questionnaires via e-mail or else it can be created on some online survey website.After we get the questionnaires from all students, we will break down it into a group of major (Global Business, Tourism Management, International Affairs and International Marketing) because some of the students in each major they have different idea about the courses they take or lecturers they study with. Thus, with this approach, it can help us make the search more effective. A questionnaire can give a researcher and their institutions the chance to set out and analyze their own practices.

Hnard, 2010) Moreover, when it comes to the issue of wasting paper on doing questionnaires, we do have an idea trying to avoid this issue by using the Touch Pad instead of giving out the survey papers. The advantage is this method can help us on statistics as well because the Touch Pad can automatically collect the database. However, there’s also the disadvantage of which is time because student can do the questionnaire only 1 person tat time. Data Analysis We plan to analyze the data statically and bring the result in the form Of percentage.Moreover, we will use Microsoft Office Excel software to calculate and work on analysis. Then take the result in the form of percentage or average.

Furthermore, will try to analyze the descriptive results by looking at the similarities interest and differences. We will also try to analyze the results keeping in mind of earlier studies. As we mention earlier on Procedure and Study Area about the Touch Pad, it can help us on collecting the database which will be using on the Microsoft Office Access and publish the result on Microsoft Office Excel. 1 CHAPTER 4 : Results Expected Results From this study, the expected results would be like in research that we mention earlier. 5. 6. The students have a good learning experience in KICK KICK student positively satisfy with the quality of teaching. The lecturers in KICK are effective, so the students have motivation to study. KICK student will recommend the institution to others. Students are increasingly becoming a force promoting quality of teaching.

Students will play an active role in developing the awareness of quality teaching in the institution. 7. Associations and students group will be allowed to bring new ideas and influence the institutional policy on quality teaching by raising problems with which they are directly concerned. Future Studies This study has the limitation only in the Chon Kane University International College (KICK), Thailand.

The similar pattern of a study using the same questionnaires and methodology can be conducted at other universities in different region as well.
