India’s performance with regard to both education and employment has been unsatisfactory. In India Unemployment rate was 4.9 per cent in 2013-14, 4.7 per cent (2012-13), 3.
8 per cent (2011-12) and 9.3 per cent (2009-10). CMIE records shows the Unemployment rate in India is 5.
2%, in Urban 6.0% and Rural 4.8% as on 18th January 2018. In this regard central government has taken initiation by introducing various schemes for Skill enhancement for employability.
Skill development uses a combination of cognitive and behavior problem solving approaches, both of which are used to strengthen a person’s positive skill development. Skill enhancement programs are focused around training that combines the best practices from education, psychology, social work, career counseling, sports, and technology training. Telangana is the youngest state in India, having 2.7% of unemployment rate the Telangana Government key focused on employability for youth through enhancing skill development by establishing the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK). Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge is a non-profit organization, established under the Department of IT E&C, Government of Telangana to bring synergy between Government, Academia and Industry with an objective to enhance the employability quotient of youth in the state and to provide quality human resources to the industry.This paper attempts to identify the importance of skill enhancement and scope for job creation in the Telangana state. The paper also focuses on a case study of TASK in Telangana region.
The skill enhancement & Challenges in select fields is highlighted. This researcher wants to analyze the efforts of Telangana Government and window of job opportunities for the Fresher’s.
