For a long British cuisine has been categorized as bad for its lack of imagination, starchy puddings, weak tea and poor food. Like anywhere else in the world, there is both good food and bad in London. The delusion of that British food is bad comes from a misconception of stereotypical ideas or concepts not what British food actually is. As the time flies, most of the time thing get better, similarly, British Food and its surrounding have been improved.

In this article, we will look at why I consider British Cuisine is one of the best cuisines in the world with reference to the history of British Cuisine, how it has been improved over a period of time and my personal opinion. British Cuisine has always been influenced by the Roman in the ancient time, French in the medieval time making the cuisine multicultural. As the British Empire is huge, it helped the cuisine to adapt different types of dishes and food cultures from all around the world. For example, from East Asia they adopted tea and from India, we adopted the curry-style spicing.

These adaptations have the Brits to developed different food types such as spicy sauces such as mint sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce etc… Many of the English cakes and pastries were tied with various religious days of the year. Like, Simnel Cake is for Mothering Sunday, Hot Cross Buns are eaten on Good Friday, Twelfth Night Cake for Epiphany, and Plum Pudding for Christmas. Unfortunately, a huge damage was done to the British Cuisine during the two world wars. As Britain is an island country, the food supplies became short during the world wars. Stews, pies, and bread from Britain have declined in interest in the world.

The British cuisine looked like a joke when it adapted the French art of Nouvelle Cuisine. That’s when all the bad happened to the British Food. Now let’s see how British cuisine has improved after the two world wars.

British started to look differently from the late 1980’s. After the disappointment with the Nouvelle cuisine, the chef started to look at home for inspiration. Based on the rich tradition and utilising many different and interesting ingredients, the basis of the modern British Cuisine has formed. Brits have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity. The traditional dishes such as roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, Cornish pasties, and steak remained popular without changing the dishes. The use of vegetables and salad oil have replaced the use of butter. The consumption of rice and pasta have resulted in a decrease in potato consumption and the consumption of the meat has fallen too. With chefs like Gordon Ramsay, London has an incredible record of award-winning restaurants.

Now, let’s look at an interview with Gordon Ramsay about the British Cuisine. What do you think about British Cuisine? And What is your favourite dish from the cuisine?I think that British Cuisine is good, it had improved from the late 20th century. My favourite part of the British cuisine is the British breakfast because it is the best breakfast it has the right amount of calories and it is a great way to start the day.What do you think about the future of the British Cuisine?As the food industry is going through major changes because shifting of the major interest from organic food to genetically modified food. But, I think the British cuisine is going to improve and get richer similar to the UK. Based on this interview with Gordon Ramsay on British cuisine we can see that the responses are positive toward the British cuisine.

Similarly, I feel that British cuisine is diverse and multicultural and it has improved in a way that I personally like the food. As I am Indian, the British cuisine has a nice blend of spices and flavour. I love the fish and chips and the cakes from the cuisine.
