CSR Organization and Structure of CSR Frame Work Their CSR Organization has a Corporate CSR committee headed by the Chairman and comprising of a Core monitoring group. The core-monitoring group is responsible for resource allocation and monitoring of effective CSR implementation across all the usiness units of ABCTCL. Their CSR framework is structured to clearly identify the Key focus areas (KEA) and the corresponding performance criteria under each of the focus area. The conformance to performance criteria is achieved by rigorously pursuing CSR targets.
Through this implementation is complemented with internal monitoring complemented with appropriate Corrective and Preventive actions, where required. The Management review process ensures objective review and appropriate reporting mechanism to set a pace for continual improvement. Some of the CSR initiatives they employ are: At the estate level, they include conversion of the outer skin of the coffee cherry into anure. Rainwater harvesting for irrigation. ETP (Effluent treatment plant) controls pollution during wet processing.
All estates are IJTZ Kapeh certified for sustainable agricultural practices, which means that coffee is grown with least impact to surrounding forests and wildlife. The IJTZ Certified Code of Conduct is a recognized global “decency” standard for coffee, and and efficient farm management. Majority of coffee farms across their supply chain, wherein they have a major stake are IJTZ certified for sustainable agricultural practices with least impact to surrounding forests and wildlife. There are no mechanized dryer – all coffee is naturally sundried and they employ integrated pest management to reduce pesticide usage.
They have been focusing on energy conservation by using LED bulbs instead of CFL bulbs and also using LED for their signs. Of many Corporate social responsibilities the main endeavor has been to create exciting and lucrative employment opportunities for the less fortunate and making them as independent as possible. A known NGO, EnAble India, gives Caf?© Coffee Day the opportunity to employ hearing and speech impaired people. They mploy as many as 50 speech and hearing impaired people at various outlets as part of their regular staff as a move towards equal employment.
They are called ‘Silent Brew-masters’. Some of them have been with them for long and contribute with their immense hard work and commitment. CCD is extending its financial support to CRY in a unique gesture with the aim of educating 55 children every year Their biggest CSR initiative is the Shankarakudige Veerappa Gangaiah Hegde Education Trust, setup in 2002 as a non-profit trust with the mission of ” Education for All “. The Coffee Day Foundation is Coffee Days expression of life to give back to the society. It runs two institutions, Amber Valley Residential School and SVGH Vocational Training College.
The SVGH Vocational Training College was established in April 2005 in Chikmaglur, Karnataka by the Trust to bridge the gap between the urban and rural youth by training the economically underprivileged. They train youth who are in tough circumstances (children from broken homes, or of parents who might be offenders and are in Jails). Over 1300 students celebrate this opportunity. A dedicated and committed faculty adopts innovative teaching methods. In-house practical training, industry visits; guest lectures are all part of the system with a focus on extra-curricular activities.
The Trust has a goal of Educating and Empowering 5000 Youth in 10 years time. It has the aim of giving opportunities for the economically underprivileged ones for learning, training and ensuring them due placements. It has the vision to create an environment where students are motivated to find their purpose and realize their full potential. The college trains and supports rural youth to be independent, responsible and adaptable. It provides them an opportunity for ersonal and professional development thereby equipping them with skills to handle the rapidly changing environment.
The college has trained students many of whom have found employment at CCD outlets across the country. Courses offered include Certificate Course in Hospitality Management & Micro Finance. The Trust bears the entire expenses of the course which includes imparting education, providing food and accommodation, uniforms and transport facilities. The trained students are guaranteed employment. Current employees are involved actively in SVGH programs and help by conducting modules etc. They also award scholarships to children in need.
