Unit 6 Homework ENC 1101-12 Professor Ros Latoya Smith May 27th, 2011 Movies in a theater or on television Even though we have to wait until a movie comes out on DVD, or television, by choosing to watch a new movie at home, it is more comfortable and cheaper than going to a theater.
In reality, it all depends on an individual’s urgency to want to see a movie. I think there are times when we all want to get out of the house for a movie night. And then there are times when we would rather stay at home, and just relax watching a movie. There are both pros and cons to each choice. Watching a movie at home is definitely more cost effective, you can watch the movie as many times as you would like, you can invite people over, and even have the luxury of eating your own food.
Going to the theater, is going to cost money, which isn’t cheap these days. You have to pay for the food, which also can be costly, and most of all if you have to get up for any reason, you’ll miss a part of the movie. In a recent study, it shows that three-quarters of adults, would rather watch movies at home, than going out to the movies. Pew Research Center, 1994) Many people feel that going to the movies is becoming increasingly expensive these days. Unlike the old days, when you could afford to take your entire family out to the movies, now you can barely go on a date to the movies.
Another recent study shows that about 72 percent of Americans go to the movies at least once per year. (Screen vision, 2011) In 2007, there were 2 percent less people that went out to the movies than, in 2006.
