It is very important for kids to learn about how strong and brave kids or adults are living with cancer each day and the struggles they face. Hazel Grace Lancaster a 17 year old at the age of 13 diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Hazel lives each day with the luck of a drug called phalanxifor her cannula keeping her breathing under control. There are many people in the world who are born with a disability or suffering diseases like Hazel. For some people, the only sky they see is the view from the hospital bed or a window of house.
This is one of several reasons why this book belongs in a middle school library; it opens you up to understanding how life is not always perfect you should appreciate everything you have. There are many people in the world who are very ill or are born with a life threatening condition and are even hospitalized.
